Lonely Planet Releases Top Ten Cities to Visit

The travel experts at Lonely Planet released their top ten best cities to visit in the world last October. Now that travel season is upon us, it may be time to look into the cheapest airfare to these cities, some of which may surprise you. The list goes as follows, in no particular order: Antwerp, Belgium; Beirut, Lebanon; Chicago, United States of America; Glasgow, Scotland; Lisbon, Portugal; Mexico City, Mexico; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Shanghai, China; Warsaw, Poland; and Zurich, Switzerland. The famed travel guide selected its cities based on quirky and unusual criteria, such as "best place for deep thinking," "coolest camps," and "defining experiences." The list is likely to create an increase in tourism for each of these cities, though perhaps not Mexico City, due to its recent bout of swine flu. Lonely Planet appeared to be careful in its selection of each city, seeming to give equal attention to each of the continents. A city from the African continent is missing from this list, though Aswan, Egypt and Maputo, Mozambique both appeared on Lonely Planet\'s recent Top 200 list.
